Do I need to pay a membership fee to attend?

No. MPM is not tied to any professional society or organization. You only need to pay the conference registration fee to attend.

Are there travel or registration scholarships available?

Can I get a letter to support my visa application?

What COVID-19-related precautions is MBL/MPM taking for in-person attendees?

Please note that the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) requires all in-person attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (https://goforward.mbl.edu/covid-19-vaccination/). Will I be able to get my housing choice?

We will do our best to work with MBL staff to honor your housing choices. Please understand that we are limited for housing and would like to be able to invite all interested applicants.

What time zone are the sessions scheduled within?

Our conference program uses Eastern Standard Time (EST) for all sessions or event times. We have done our best to schedule sessions to be accessible to a wide range of time zones. The session schedule will be posted on the website later in the summer. 

Questions about conference logistics

How long are the talks?

Talk presentations should be no more than 12 minutes followed by 2-3 minutes for questions.

How long are teaser talks and how can I prepare for presenting one?

Teaser talks: You will be provided with 4 minutes to briefly present the background and essential data of your research. Please only prepare 5 slides and resist the temptation to cram in all your data, be sure to direct us to your poster session and number. There will be no questions from the audience following your talk.

Will oral presentations be recorded?

We plan to record all oral presentations for meeting attendees to view at a later time-point.

What is the size of the in-person poster?

In person posters should be no bigger than 42” width x 60” height.

How will virtual posters work?

Virtual posters will be presented by Zoom. Presenters also need to upload their poster as a PDF file by Sunday (Sept. 18, 2022) by noon time (EST time).
